From what I understand if you destroy the Citadel you are supposed to win regardless of what mode you are playing but in Slaughter mode this is impossible:

From the above screen shot you can see how little damage I was doing to the Citadel. It seems that the regen on it was so high that not even that massive horde of units could damage it

Winning by the main victory condition for that mode (Demigod kills) wasn't very feasible either. Since everytime I killed the enemy Demigod I would have to wait for him to rez again. Killing him took fairly long as well, even with all of those units, because of the healing building right next to where he spawned. Although eventually I could have won by killing him over and over I think the game would likely have crashed before that point due to how many units I had.

Its not the regen... its the fact that it has 125 million hp

Just goes to show a lot of these Game Types were not designed for 1 on 1 senario. But due to the poor Multiplayer, all we really can do is 1 on 1 and 2 on 2, and the rare 3v3. It feels like a lot of these Demigod and Gametypes have been balanced at 5v5 or better.

Many of the game modes can be adjusted to fit the group. For example, the host can change the number of kills needed for Slaughter, the war score needed for Dominate, or the tower strength for Fortress. 30 kills is pretty daunting for a 1v1 or a 2v2. 15 kills may get you the game length you're after.

edit: Actually, I just noticed that the alternate win conditions were not working for Dominate and Slaughter. Bugged and on it. Sorry!
